 Selection Process

Selection of the new F.P.R.P. residents
Selection of new residents takes place every year in July and January in order to be enrolled for the new coming training year which starts in February. The number of the residents selected varies according to the ministry's needs for family physicians.
Eligibility for Application for F.P.R.P includes the following conditions:
  1. Has a Bahraini Nationality.
  2. Has been qualified from an accredited medical school.
  3. Has successfully passed the licensure examination of the Ministry of Health.
  4. Has experience in primary health care in the Ministry of Health.

Selection process
The selection takes place at the FPRP office in Naim Health Center. The following is required:

  1. Completion of the application form. The form is available at the F.P.R.P. office and the web page of the program.
  2. Attending the pre- entrance written examination which is in the form of M.C.Q.s.
  3. Participating in the group exercise activity; where the candidates are asked to discuss in the group a specific theme given to them, during which they are observed by the program tutors and external interviewers. This activity usually lasts for two hours.
  4. Attending the selection interview; where each candidate is interviewed personally by the panel members of the selection committee; which usually takes 15-20 minutes for each candidate.

At the end of the selection the candidates are ranked by the committee members according to their achievement from the highest to the lowest, and are selected accordingly.
